ISLAMABAD: As the monsoon season continues across Pakistan, several regions are experiencing intermittent rainfall, bringing much-needed relief from the summer heat. According to the latest forecast, light to moderate rain is expected at isolated locations in Islamabad, Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir today.
The day began on a pleasant note in Lahore, where light morning showers freshened the atmosphere and lowered the temperature slightly. Cloudy skies continue to hover over many areas of the city, with a cool breeze adding to the comfort.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that monsoon currents are actively penetrating upper parts of the country, increasing the likelihood of more rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours. While rainfall is expected to be scattered, it may vary in intensity from light drizzle to moderate showers in different areas.
Residents in northern Punjab, including cities like Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Sialkot, as well as regions in Upper KP such as Abbottabad, Mansehra, and Swat, are advised to stay updated on local weather alerts, especially those traveling in hilly areas where slippery roads and limited visibility could pose challenges.
Meanwhile, in Azad Kashmir, brief spells of rain are likely to offer relief from the ongoing dry conditions and may help improve local water levels in streams and small reservoirs.
Authorities have also advised taking precautions against sudden rain-related hazards such as urban flooding or landslides in vulnerable zones.
