Park Bo-ram died Thursday afternoon, the singer’s agency, Xanadu Entertainment reported.
“It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of Park Bo-ram’s sudden passing late on April 11,” expressed the statement from Xanadu. “The entire Xanadu Entertainment family, including artists and executives, mourns her loss profoundly. We are devastated to convey this unexpected news to all the fans who have supported Park Bo-ram. The funeral arrangements will be made in consultation with the bereaved family. Once again, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the departed soul, wishing her eternal peace.”
As per Seoul police reports, Park was found collapsed and in cardiac arrest at a friend's house, where she was accompanied by two other women. Despite prompt hospitalization, she passed away at 11:17 p.m. local time, about an hour after being admitted.
Authorities are conducting investigations to ascertain the exact cause of her sudden death, as she had no known health issues.
While the precise reason for her demise remains unclear, Park Bo-ram adds to the list of several young Korean entertainment personalities who have tragically died in recent times. The demanding and intense environment of the K-pop and entertainment industry exposes them to significant pressure and challenges.
Park Bo-ram initially rose to prominence after her appearance on the South Korean pay TV music channel program Superstar K2 in 2010. Her debut song, “Beautiful,” released in 2014, secured the 19th position on the Korean chart that year.
Acknowledging her talent, Park received the Artist of the Year award at the 4th Gaon Chart K-POP Awards. She was also nominated for prestigious accolades such as the Mnet Asian Music Award, Melon Music Award, and Golden Disk Award.
