Typhoon Shanshan made a landfall on Kyushu Island — at 8:00 (local time) on Thursday according to Japan Meteorological Agency.
According to international news agency, the flights and railway services were suspended. The strong winds displaced the roofs and shattered the windows. The wind speed was 252 km/hr which uprooted many trees when the Typhoon hit Kyushu.
With many injured, and some dead, more than 0.2 million households experienced a power outage in the afternoon according to Kyushu Electric Power Co.
Kyushu is the most southerly of the four main islands of Japan.

In 2022, the island of Kyushu in the south of Japan was hit by one of the biggest typhoons that has ever hit Japan.
Typhoon Nanmadol brought winds of at least 180 km/h (112 mph), and some places got 500mm (20 inches) of rain.
Four million people or more were told to leave their homes.
