TEHRAN: Iran’s parliament has approved a bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iranian media reported on Wednesday.
The move comes in response to what Iranian lawmakers described as the IAEA’s biased stance following recent acts of aggression by the United States and Israel.
According to local reports, the bill was passed by the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian parliament after a lengthy session held to assess the current geopolitical situation.
Committee spokesperson Ebrahim Rezaei confirmed the development, stating that the decision reflects Tehran’s growing concerns over the IAEA’s conduct amid increasing Western pressure.
The spokesman said that 222 votes were cast in favor of the bill, no one voted against the bill, only one MP did not exercise the right to vote, but the final approval of the move would be given by Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
According to Iranian media, IAEA inspectors have been closed without the security guarantee of nuclear installations, Iran will not install cameras on its nuclear sites and reports will not be submitted to the World Organization for inspection.
It should be noted that three Iranian nuclear installations were targeted by BT bomber planes by the United States, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities.
After the US invasion, President Trump claimed that the United States had destroyed Iran's nuclear capabilities and that Iran would never build an atom bomb, though Iran claims that it has enriched uranium safe.
