KARACHI: Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi successfully organized the one-day GreenEnovate Waste Conference, focusing on solid and liquid waste management.
The event took place at IBA Karachi's City campus, bringing together industry experts, innovators, and government officials to discuss sustainable solutions.
Dr Lalarukh Ejaz, the Director of IBA CED, cordially greeted the guests and provided an overview of the rigorous evaluation process for the GreenEnovate Solid & Liquid Waste Management’s shortlisting of ideas. She highlighted that a total of 622 applications were received, with 9 innovative ideas ultimately chosen for final pitches.
The chief guest, Syed Wasi Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs, graced the event. Nearly 500 people attended the conference.
The event featured a pitching session where young innovators presented their ideas on waste management. The keynote speech was delivered by Afia Salam, a Pakistani journalist and Media Development Specialist.
A session with Ruth Gutierrez-Corley from CYCN provided insights into sustainable waste management practices. A panel discussion included experts from ENGRO, Shell Pakistan Limited, and NIC Hyderabad, discussing potential partnerships between youth and the private sector.
Syed Wasi Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) visited the exhibition area, delivered welcome remarks, and distributed awards to the winners. The event concluded with Shah expressing his thoughts, followed by lunch and visits to stalls.
IBA Karachi extends heartfelt gratitude to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) team, the Prime Minister's Youth Programme (PMYP), the Commonwealth, UNICEF, the IBA Center for Executive Development (CED) team, and the dedicated volunteers.
