Heavy Rains in Dubai: Sheikh Zayed Road traffic diverted for water buildup

  • Dubai roads diverted due to heavy rainfall overnight.
  • Motorists are advised to take alternative routes on Sheikh Zayed Road.
  • Crisis teams work to restore smooth traffic flow post-rainfall in Dubai.
Dubai roads were diverted due to water buildup after heavy rainfall on February 12 and overnight.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes as traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road in the Jebel Ali area has been redirected by the Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

The RTA suggests the following routes:

  • Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road for those heading towards Abu Dhabi.
  • Seih Shuaib Street towards Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road for those coming from Abu Dhabi.
Last night, travelers returning from Dubai to Abu Dhabi faced significant flooding on Sheikh Zayed Road. Citing privacy concerns related to their work, a driver mentioned that vehicles were crawling along to prevent any accidents. The attached images illustrate the extent of water buildup on the crucial highway leading to Abu Dhabi.

Emirate-wide crisis teams are addressing the aftermath of rainfall and working to restore smooth traffic flow. Dubai authorities are focused on ensuring seamless and convenient mobility across the city.

Abu Dhabi Police and Civil Defense teams are fully committed to addressing the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions in the capital. They are actively assessing the impacts of heavy rain and prioritizing public safety measures.

Private sector firms in the UAE have been urged to maintain flexible work arrangements on February 13 due to ongoing rainfall across the country. In Dubai, government employees will work remotely for an additional day on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Tuesday weather forecast:

Tuesday's forecast predicts cloudy conditions with a chance of rainfall in specific northern and eastern areas during the day.
