Emily Blunt has revealed that she was asked to make her voice sound less human for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming sci-fi thriller "Disclosure Day".
However, she said the production did not use artificial intelligence to create the final effect. While promoting the film on the show Hot Ones, Blunt explained how she worked on one of the movie’s most unusual scenes. In the film, she plays Margaret Fairchild, a TV weather reporter whose life changes after a strange encounter with non human life.
One key scene shows her character breaking down during a live broadcast. She then begins speaking in a strange, unknown language. Blunt said the sequence was filmed in a long single take that shows her gradual transformation on screen.
She said the team considered using AI for the effect. However, she chose a more natural approach. “You could go the AI route, which I’m a bit terrified of,” she said during the interview.
Instead, Blunt created a range of unusual sounds herself. She recorded clicks, hums, breaths, and other strange vocal noises. She described it as a hands on experiment with her voice rather than using digital tools.
The film’s sound designer later used those recordings to build the final alien sound. The effect was created entirely from Blunt’s voice, without computer-generated voices.
Blunt said she enjoyed the creative process. She felt it gave the scene a more personal and unique feel. Early reactions from critics have been positive. Some have called Disclosure Day one of Spielberg’s strongest recent films.
The film is now gaining attention for its creative use of sound and performance rather than artificial intelligence and will release om June 12, 2026 with great startup impact on the wider audience.
