While their friendly exchange stirred excitement online, Shahid Kapoor dismissed any speculation, calling it a completely "normal" moment. Speaking to the media at the IIFA Digital Awards green carpet, Shahid Kapoor addressed his interaction with Kareena Kapoor, stating, "For us, it's nothing new... aaj stage pe mile aur hum log idhar udhar milte rehte hai (today we met on stage, but we keep running into each other here and there). But it's totally normal for us... if people felt nice, it's nice."
Shahid and Kareena, who dated in the 2000s, starred together in several films, including Fida, Chup Chup Ke, and Jab We Met. Their relationship ended just before the release of Jab We Met, after which Kareena married Saif Ali Khan and Shahid tied the knot with Mira Rajput.
The 25th edition of IIFA, being held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, will feature performances from both Shahid and Kareena. Shahid is set to groove to his hit songs, while Kareena will pay tribute to her grandfather, legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
