The Shawwal moon was not sighted on Saturday in Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, and Brunei, meaning these countries will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday, March 31, as confirmed by officials.
In Malaysia, religious authorities announced the decision after conducting extensive moon sighting efforts at designated locations. Since the crescent moon was not visible, Ramadan will be completed with 30 days, making March 31 the official day for Eid celebrations.
Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs also confirmed that the Shawwal moon was not sighted, leading to the decision to observe Eid-ul-Fitr on Monday in the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation.
Similarly, Bangladesh has officially declared March 31 as Eid day, with reports confirming that the moon was not visible in Bangladesh, India, and Brunei.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan, and Muslims in Malaysia and Indonesia will celebrate with special prayers, family gatherings, and festive meals.
Additionally, the Australian Fatwa Council has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed in Australia on Monday, March 31. Meanwhile, countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE will confirm their moon sighting reports accordingly.
