Gaza: The Israeli military has intensified its offensive in Gaza, with recent airstrikes claiming the lives of 116 Palestinians, including individuals who had gathered near aid food centers in Rafah. Among the victims was an infant who tragically died due to food shortages affecting the civilian population.
The ongoing Israeli assault shows no signs of abatement, with airstrikes across various areas causing widespread destruction and loss of life. The total death toll in Gaza has now surpassed 58,700, with over 140,000 injured, many of whom are women and children caught in the crossfire.
Four bodies were recovered near Bani Sahelah, south of Khan Younis, while in Khan Younis itself, one person was killed in an Israeli drone attack on a tent. In the central Gaza area of Al-Zouyada, an attack on a residential house resulted in the martyrdom of Colonel Omar Saeed Aql, the director of Nasirat Police, and 11 members of his family.
Amid the escalating violence, the United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP) reports severe food shortages in Gaza, with approximately one in three residents deprived of food for several days. The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) stated that while they have food supplies for Gaza’s population, the Israeli blockade prevents aid delivery through Egypt, compounding the humanitarian crisis.
In diplomatic developments, Hamas announced a proposal for a ceasefire aimed at facilitating the release of all hostages held by the group. However, Israel has rejected the offer, with Hamas warning that failure to reach an agreement could lead to a prolonged conflict.
Meanwhile, in the UK, thousands of citizens participated in protests across London, Edinburgh, Manchester, and Bristol, voicing their support for Palestine. The demonstrations also called for the removal of Palestine Action from the UK government’s list of terrorist organizations—a designation made earlier this month. Police responded by arresting 63 protesters.
