All UAE nationals and residents must obtain a valid driving license in Dubai to legally drive, as driving without one can result in substantial fines.
The traffic department can also issue fines for driving with an expired license. According to RTA guidelines, residents aged 21 and above are eligible to apply for a driving license in Dubai.
Residents under 21 can apply for a probationary driving license.

Penalties on Delay Renewal of License
According to the RTA, a delay fine of 10 AED is calculated monthly from the license's expiration date, up to a maximum of 500 AED. If the license has been expired for over 10 years, it is necessary to pay the periodic renewal fees and undergo an evaluation test.If the license has been expired for more than ten years, the applicant must pass a driving test again to evaluate their skills. The service fee for the evaluation test in this case is as follows:
