Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued weather alerts as heavy rains, hailstorms, and snowfall continue to affect multiple regions across the country, causing disruption and claiming lives.
Today, Karachi will experience hot and humid conditions with partly cloudy skies and calm sea breezes.
The temperature is expected to range from a minimum of 22°C in the early morning to a maximum of 32°C during the day with a humidity level of 79% making the atmosphere feel sticky.
From tonight, a western disturbance is expected to enter southern Balochistan, bringing light to moderate rainfall to Karachi and other parts of Sindh on April 6–7, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Across the country, Islamabad recorded hail accompanied by heavy rain, sharply reducing temperatures. Similar intense showers were reported in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Sargodha, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Gujranwala.
In Mianwali, the Kurram River surged at Kundal Chhura, creating flood-like conditions as water inundated homes. Parachinar saw a road near a river bridge washed away, while a roof collapse and a lightning strike claimed two lives.
On the Pak-Afghan Highway in Khyber, a vehicle was swept away in a flash flood, resulting in three fatalities. Northern districts of Balochistan recorded rainfall and light snowfall, intensifying cold weather and contributing to five additional deaths in separate incidents.
Azad Kashmir continues to receive rainfall, and intermittent snowfall persists over Naran, Swat, Babusar Top, and Nanga Parbat, further lowering temperatures.
Heavy rains and snowfall are forecast in northern areas until April 9, raising the risk of flash floods. Authorities warn residents to remain vigilant and take all safety measures.
