Pakistan braces for cold, dry weather with fog and snowfall in northern regions

Light rain and snowfall possible in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Balochistan highlands

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast cold and dry conditions across most parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

Fog and smog are likely in several plain areas, while light rain and snowfall may develop over northern and western high-altitude regions.

Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir: Weather will remain chilly with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Isolated light rain is possible, while snowfall may occur over elevated mountainous areas.

Islamabad, the Potohar region, and the KP plains will experience cold conditions with partial cloud cover. Morning and late-night fog is expected at a few locations.

Upper and hilly areas of KP will stay intensely cold, with chances of light rain and snowfall in Chitral, Dir, Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, and Parachinar. Fog may affect Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, and D.I. Khan during the early hours.

In Punjab, most districts will remain dry with low temperatures. Dense fog and smog may disrupt visibility in Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Multan, Khanewal, Layyah, Kot Addu, and Bahawalpur.

Murree and nearby highlands may remain under partial to thick cloud cover.

In Sindh, dry weather will dominate the province, while nighttime and early morning hours may feel notably cooler.

In Balochistan, cold and dry conditions will persist in most areas. Northern and western districts may see cloudy skies with light rain and snowfall in Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, and Qila Saifullah. Northern parts are expected to experience severely cold nights.
