ISLAMABAD – Isolated rains and gusty/dust-raising winds are forecasted for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and other parts of Pakistan on Friday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air is prevailing over most parts of Pakistan, with a shallow westerly wave affecting the northern regions.
Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as well as in the Potohar region, northeast Punjab, upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir on Friday.
In Islamabad, maximum temperatures are predicted to range between 38-40°C on Friday and Saturday. In Rawalpindi, maximum temperatures are expected to be between 40-42°C on Friday and 39-41°C on Saturday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves have affected the plains of the country over the last 24 hours, with light rain/drizzle occurring in isolated areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Jacobabad recorded the highest temperature in the country at 51°C. Other high temperatures included 50°C in Lasbella, 49°C in Dadu, Sibbi, Turbat, and Mohenjo-Daro, 48°C in Khairpur, Larkana, and Bahawalnagar, and 47°C in Hyderabad, Kasur, Rahimyar Khan, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Joharabad, Khanewal, Mandi Bahauddin, Okara, Padidan, Rohri, and Noorpur Thal.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C, with an evening relative humidity of 41%. In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was also 42°C, with an evening relative humidity of 26%.
