ISLAMABAD: In a startling development David Warner captain of Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been charged in Australia for allegedly driving under the influence, triggering a wave of concern ahead of the ongoing tournament.

According to international media reports, the incident unfolded in Sydney’s Maroubra area, where police intercepted Warner and subjected him to a breath test. Despite reportedly stopping his vehicle before reaching the checkpoint, authorities proceeded with testing, which returned positive for alcohol consumption.

Following the result New South Wales Police swiftly registered a case against the star cricketer and took him into custody, moving him to a local police station. The development has sent shockwaves across the cricketing world, especially among PSL fans.

Warner is now expected to appear before a court on May 7, as legal proceedings loom over his participation in upcoming commitments.

The explosive turn of events comes at a critical moment, as Warner had taken a brief break from the PSL and was scheduled to rejoin Karachi Kings on April 9. His sudden legal troubles now cast serious uncertainty over his return and leadership in the tournament.
