- Salman Butt discussed the possibility of coaching role in the PSL.

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Butt mentioned that it’s premature to discuss coaching as the next PSL is a year away.
“There is no such thing [coaching in PSL] at the moment. The next edition of PSL is in 2025 so I don’t know what will happen at that time,” Butt stated.
Butt, who has represented Pakistan in 33 Tests, 78 ODIs, and 24 T20Is, amassing over 5,000 runs, was notably banned by the International Cricket Council for spot-fixing in the Lord’s Test in 2010, along with Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir.
Butt was handed a 10-year ban, with five years suspended, and the Pakistani trio were found guilty of corruption and cheating, serving jail terms in Britain.
Earlier, Butt had also commented that wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris needs to improve his performance on the field to win the selectors’ confidence.
Butt’s comments came after Haris was overlooked by the PCB selection committee when the squad for the upcoming T20I matches against Ireland and England was announced.
“Azam Khan, Saim Ayub and Iftikhar Ahmed are all explosive players. Shadab Khan is also a solid hitter and Imad Wasim is the same. Usman Khan also performed in PSL so where would you place Mohammad Haris? Haris has had plenty of opportunities and maybe he needs to ask himself about whether he has done justice to his chances and talent because he is extremely talented. His look is attractive because of the way he can strike the ball,” Butt expressed on his official YouTube channel.
“Sometimes he plays shots which were not required at that time of the match and this was not just restricted to T20I cricket because he also did that while playing for Pakistan A. When somebody does this time and again, you have to ask if he is ready and mentally present in the ground. These things can create doubt in the selectors’ minds.
“I’m sure, with his talent, everyone wants him to play, including me. But he needs to show more presence of mind, show more practicality while batting and in simple terms only do what is necessary.”
