Haaland, back from a lengthy injury, shattered the stalemate in the 70th minute and then increased his team’s advantage in the 85th minute, securing a win for City.
In doing so, the high-scoring Norwegian forward achieved 51 PL goals in his initial 50 starts, surpassing anyone else’s record in their first 50 starts in the competition.

City controlled the match with superior possession, which was expected, but they had to struggle intensely to score against Jordan Pickford as the home team’s defense was quite resilient.
Pep Guardiola’s squad marked their sixth straight victory in the PL. Conversely, Everton hasn’t won any of their last seven league games.
Guardiola expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance post-match, commending his players for rising to the challenge in a difficult game.
“It’s a big achievement. I love to win these types of games - the difficulty is there, we knew it, we talked about suffering and knowing how difficult everything is. Nothing is granted, the way they celebrated goals shows how difficult it was,” Guardiola said.
“With Erling and Kevin, we are stronger, it’s obvious.” They are set to face Copenhagen in the opening leg of the Champions League last-16 on Tuesday, as they embark on the next stage of their title defense.
Take note, Man City currently ranks second in the PL with 52 points from 23 matches, one point behind leaders Liverpool. If Guardiola’s team wins their outstanding match, they can ascend to the top of the table.
