The renovation of Gaddafi Stadium is particularly focused on enhancing the spectator experience. Taking a leaf out of Dubai Cricket Stadium’s book, the PCB intends to ensure that every seat in the stadium offers a clear view of the cricketing action.
The renovation blueprint includes relocating hospitality boxes to provide a closer view of the ground, increasing the number of seats in the Imran Khan and Fazal Mahmood stands, and the installation of a sizable screen to amplify the ambiance on match days.
The forthcoming event is set to revive the ICC Champions Trophy after an eight-year break, with the previous tournament held in 2017, where Pakistan clinched the title by defeating India in the finale.
The line-up for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has been confirmed, featuring Pakistan as the host nation, alongside India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Afghanistan, England, and Bangladesh.
In related news, Rajeev Shukla, the vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), discussed the Indian cricket team’s anticipated tour to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy next year.
Speaking with ANI, Shukla stated that the BCCI’s decision to send the Indian team to Pakistan will be governed by the instructions from the Indian government.
“In the case of the Champion Trophy, we will do whatever the Government of India will tell us to do. We send our team only when the Government of India gives us permission. So, we will go according to the decision of the Indian government,” Shukla articulated.
