The ICC Champions Trophy final is being played today at Dubai Stadium between India and New Zealand.
New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner confirmed at the toss that Matt Henry would miss the final due to a shoulder injury, with Nathan Smith taking his place in the lineup.
"It's a fantastic occasion at a great venue. The conditions here are slightly different from Pakistan, but we are prepared. India has been in top form, so our goal is to put up a competitive total and take it from there. Different players have stepped up for us throughout the tournament, and we expect another strong performance today," Santner remarked.
Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma remained unfazed by the toss result, expressing confidence in his team’s ability to chase.
"I don’t mind batting second. The pitch remains largely unchanged, so our focus will be on restricting them efficiently. Execution of our plans is key. New Zealand is a strong team, and we’re excited for the challenge. We are sticking with the same XI," Rohit said.
The tournament, which began with eight teams, has now come down to the final two contenders. Both New Zealand and India are eager to be crowned champions and lift the prestigious trophy.
However, India appears to have an edge as they have played all their matches in Dubai. This has given them a better understanding of the conditions, which they will aim to capitalize on in the decisive clash of Champions Trophy final.
