Pakistan’s star cricketers, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, are on the verge of achieving significant milestones as the team prepares to face South Africa in the first T20I in Durban.

Babar Azam, currently in second place for the most runs in T20I cricket, is just 39 runs away from becoming the all-time leading run-scorer in T20Is.

The 30-year-old has scored 4,192 runs in 126 matches and is set to surpass India’s Rohit Sharma, who holds the record with 4,231 runs in 159 matches.

With Rohit retiring after the 2024 T20 World Cup, Babar’s record-breaking moment is expected soon. Virat Kohli, also retiring from the format, sits third with 4,188 runs.

  • Rohit Sharma (India) – 4,231
  • Babar Azam (Pakistan) – 4,192

  • Paul Stirling (Ireland) – 3,655
Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi is closing in on 100 wickets in T20Is. The left-arm pacer has 97 wickets, tied with Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi.

With just three more wickets, Shaheen will become the third Pakistani player to take 100 wickets in T20Is. Haris Rauf, with 110 wickets, and Shadab Khan, with 107 wickets, lead the chart for Pakistan.

The Pakistan-South Africa series, starting December 10, will feature three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches, offering plenty of opportunities for these milestones to be reached.
