Islamabad: Legendary Pakistani tennis star Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi bid farewell to the sport after playing his final match, marking the end of an illustrious career.
The men’s doubles final of the ATP Challenger Cup in Islamabad served as Aisam’s career finale. Partnered with Muzammil Murtaza, Aisam’s pair was defeated in straight sets by their opponents. He had announced his retirement at the opening of the tournament.
After the match, Aisam congratulated the winning pair and expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family and supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout his career.
As President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, he emphasized his commitment to providing maximum support and facilities to emerging players. He also hailed the hosting of an ATP tournament in Pakistan as a significant achievement for the country.
Over his distinguished career, Aisam-ul-Haq won a record 18 ATP World Tour titles, 28 ATP Challenger titles, and 17 ITF Futures doubles titles, alongside 5 ITF singles titles.
He also secured 1 ATP Challenger singles title and holds the record as Pakistan’s most successful player in Davis Cup matches across singles, doubles, and overall victories.
At the conclusion of his final match, spectators and fellow players paid tribute to the tennis legend, honoring his remarkable contributions to the sport and Pakistan.
