Born on 2 October 1938 in Karachi, Murad was more than just an actor he was a phenomenon, a “chocolate hero” whose charm, style, and modern outlook won hearts across the nation.
Waheed Murad completed his Master’s in English Literature from the University of Karachi before stepping into the film industry.
He began his cinematic journey as a supporting actor in “Aulad”, while his first hit as a leading man, “Heera Aur Patthar”, instantly established him as a beloved star.
His 1966 blockbuster “Armaan” shattered all box office records and cemented his place not only in Pakistan’s film history but also in the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.
Waheed Murad showcased his acting prowess in over 125 films across Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto cinema, with his movies achieving platinum, diamond, golden, and silver jubilee successes. Some of his most iconic works include “Dil Mera Dharkan Teri”, “Heera Aur Patthar”, “Armaan”, “Andaleeb”, “Mastana Mahi”, “Devar Bhabhi”, and “Naseeb Apna Apna”.
