“Barzakh”, the latest series streaming on YouTube, stars Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, Salman Shahid, Fawad Khan, and Sajid Hasan. The series is receiving significant criticism for its queer themes and scenes featuring children discussing sexual topics. The public argues that it has crossed several lines, while the series’ creator, Asim Abbasi, and others have defended it.

Sanam Saeed, who plays The Mountain Baby (Scherzade) in the series, sat down for an interview with Maliha Rehman. She discussed what attracted her to the series and shared her reaction to the ongoing criticism.

She shared that “it was Asim Abbasi whom she had worked with in Cake who pulled her to do this project. She liked the writing and how loss was showcased in Barzakh which made her sign up for it.”

Sanam also mentioned that “Barzakh” is a project that demands effort from its audience. She explained that audiences usually invest in OTT projects by paying for streaming services, which limits access to a niche audience. However, with “Barzakh” now available on YouTube, it has become accessible to everyone, leading to a wide range of opinions.
