In a recent interview with Iffat Omar, Saba Hameed, a legendary actress and director, shared insights into her journey from the beginning of her career to the present. Discussing the Zia era, she revealed that there was an overnight directive mandating women to wear a dupatta on their heads on television. At the time, she was shooting for a project that was halfway done. Saba Hameed refused to comply with the order and informed the director that adding a dupatta at that point would appear odd and contradict the character's requirements. Consequently, the drama never aired, and she also took a break from acting until there was a requirement for actresses to adhere to the directive.

Saba was also asked if she faced discrimination for her dusky complexion. She revealed that “she grew up thinking she had a fair complexion, so she did not know that discrimination could be a thing for her. She never had to go through it but she later on saw other women who were not cast because they did not have a fair complexion.”
