- Bushra Ansari's Advice on Domestic Violence.
- She urges women to leave abusive relationships as soon as they recognize warning signs.
Ansari emphasized the urgency for women to leave abusive relationships as soon as they recognize the warning signs. She acknowledged the cultural barriers that may make it difficult for women to escape such situations, particularly highlighting practices like marriages within the family and the traditional custom of ‘Watta Satta’. This practice involves the exchange of women between families through marriage, carrying implications far beyond a simple transaction.
Addressing parents and families, Ansari posed a significant question: If they are unable to provide basic sustenance and protection for their daughters, should they be the primary influence in guiding their decisions, especially when it comes to assisting abused daughters?
Ansari passionately advocated for prioritizing the preservation of lives over societal expectations or other considerations. Her advice calls for a collective shift in mindset and urges parents and families to re-evaluate their priorities, placing the well-being and safety of their daughters above all else.
