He also revealed how he got this character Bhallay which has put him on the map of mainstream media. He revealed “that this was not supposed to be a full-fledged character and he was just asked to perform two scenes with Bilal Abbas Khan. He revealed that he did not know Bilal as he was not too familiar with Urdu industry artists. His son, however, told him that Bilal is his favorite and he needs to work with him. Later on, he realized that he knew Bilal from a project but Bilal did not have a beard back then.”
Ali Gul Mallah also expressed his shock when he realized the immense popularity of his character Bhallay while dining at a Lahori restaurant in Dubai. The waiters recognized him, and later, the owner personally greeted him, took pictures, and declared him as his guest.
Additionally, he revealed that originally, the creators did not intend for Bhallay Fazal Bakhsh to be a full-fledged character. However, Farooq Rind, the director, elevated his role, making him an integral part of the story. Ali Gul Mallah expressed gratitude towards Rind for the significant impact this character has had on his career.
While talking about working with Bilal Abbas Khan Ali Gul Mallah said “Bilal is such a popular star but he was so down to earth with him and allowed him all the space to perform which made all the difference. Ali shared that many big stars try to cut out lines as they feel insecure in a scene but Bilal always uplifted him and also supported his improvisations.
