Rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other parts of Pakistan on Saturday and Sunday, although there may be breaks in between. The Pakistan Meteorological Department says a westerly weather system is present over western Pakistan and is likely to affect the upper regions of the country.
Because of this system, most parts of the country are expected to experience cold and partly cloudy weather. Isolated rainfall may occur in southwestern Balochistan, while fog or smog is likely to continue in parts of Punjab and upper Sindh.
On Saturday and Sunday, cold and partly cloudy conditions will remain across most areas. Rain is expected in the twin cities, parts of Punjab, northern and northwestern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Fog and smog are also likely to persist in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh. Due to rainfall, daytime temperatures are expected to drop.
Snowfall may lead to road closures and slippery conditions in mountainous areas including Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Murree, Galliyat, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli. There is also a risk of landslides or avalanches in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Tourists have been advised to remain careful and avoid unnecessary travel.
