PPP holds key parliamentary meeting to strategize support for Budget 2025-26

Islamabad: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) held a crucial parliamentary party meeting under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

The meeting focused on strategizing support for the upcoming budget and securing key amendments aligned with the party’s priorities.

Member of National Assembly Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also participated in the discussions, emphasizing the party's unified stance. The members instructed Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to vote in favor of the budget, while also providing valuable suggestions and feedback.

A detailed briefing was given to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regarding the amendments incorporated into the budget, reflecting the party's proposals. Notably, the PPP successfully demanded a 20% increase in the Benazir Income Support Program's budget, which was accepted by the government.

In response to the party’s advocacy, taxes on solar panels were reduced by nearly 50%, and strict amendments to the FBR law, which had raised reservations, were repealed. The federal budget also saw a 10% increase in salaries and a 7% boost for pensioners, fulfilling PPP’s demands.

Further concessions included income tax exemptions for salaried individuals earning up to one lakh rupees and the restoration of funds allocated to Sindh’s universities, as per the party’s requests.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed satisfaction with the party’s influence on the budget and reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to advocating for common citizens. The party’s successful negotiations underscore its strategic role in shaping government policies ahead of the new fiscal year.
