On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound gratitude to Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for their unwavering solidarity and support for Pakistan during the recent tensions with India.
Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Khazar Farhadov, called on PM Shehbaz at the Prime Minister’s House, according to a news release. During the meeting, the prime minister highlighted that it reflected the enduring friendship between the two nations.
The prime minister deeply appreciated Pakistan's valiant armed forces for successfully conducting "Operation Bunyanum Marsoos" and expressed that the Pakistani people are grateful to Allah, the Almighty, for this historic victory. He emphasized that Pakistan is a peace-loving nation and, in this spirit, had agreed to accept the ceasefire understanding with India.
“Pakistan stands ready to resolutely defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of any future aggression,” he added.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the excellent nature of Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations and expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral cooperation. He stated that President Aliyev’s historic visit to Pakistan last July marked an important milestone by opening new avenues for collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, and investment.
Recalling his visit to Baku in February, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to elevate fraternal ties into a mutually rewarding economic partnership.
Ambassador Farhadov warmly congratulated the Prime Minister and the entire Pakistani nation on the success. He praised Pakistan’s efforts for peace in South Asia and highlighted that President Aliyev attached great importance to the brotherly ties between the two countries.
He spoke about the progress made in implementing the understandings signed at the leadership level and assured the Prime Minister of his full commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two friendly countries across all spheres of shared interest.
