KARACHI: Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan said Friday that the brand identity of drug trafficker Anmol alias Pinky will ultimately become her downfall.
He added that African nationals are also involved in the drug trafficking network under investigation.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Azad Khan said the case involving the arrested suspect is being treated as a “test case” and will be taken to its logical conclusion.
Azad Khan said that the mobile phone of drug trafficking suspect Anmol alias Pinky contains 869 contacts, including 132 numbers linked to Karachi.
He said authorities are not limiting the investigation to Karachi, adding that individuals involved in the supply and distribution of drugs linked to the suspect have already been arrested. He also said facilitators of the network are being identified and targeted in ongoing operations.
The police chief said a raid was conducted at the suspect’s former residence in Sachal, where narcotics were recovered, adding that the drugs were being smuggled from outside the country.
Federal Investigation Agency and cybercrime units have also been brought into the investigation, he said.
According to Azad Khan, financial records show transactions worth Rs 30 million linked to the suspect. He added that the network reportedly includes foreign nationals from Africa, and that the suspect had also been operating in Punjab.
He further stated that coordination with relevant agencies has been established and a wider investigation is underway. “This is a test case, and action will be taken against all those involved,” he said.
