On the directions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has sent its 23rd relief consignment to Palestine. The aid, weighing 100 tonnes, was flown from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, on a special flight.
This shipment includes ration bags with flour, rice, cooking oil, chickpeas, ready-to-eat meals, and canned fruits. With this, Pakistan has so far sent 2,227 tonnes of relief goods to Palestine through 23 consignments.
Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan was the chief guest at the send-off ceremony. Government officials, NDMA officers, and representatives of Alkhidmat Foundation also attended the event.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor praised NDMA and welfare organizations for their timely efforts in sending aid. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Palestine, saying the country will continue to do all it can to meet their needs.
He added that the oppressed people of Gaza and Palestine are like brothers to Pakistanis, and condemned Israel for targeting civilians, including children. He urged the United Nations to take strong action against Israeli aggression and called on Islamic countries to stand united in support of Palestine.
