The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Sunday issued a countrywide alert warning about heavy monsoon rains and possible flooding in different parts of Pakistan over the next few days.
The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has also shared several weather alerts saying that widespread rain, wind, and thunderstorms with some heavy showers are expected in different areas from June 29 to July 5.
The new weather advisory asks people to take precautions against possible flash floods in mountain regions and urban flooding in big cities. Authorities have been told to stay alert and the public is advised to follow official instructions.
In Punjab, moderate to heavy rain with wind and thunderstorms is expected in places like Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, and Lahore during these days.
The authority also said heavy rain could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of central Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in cities like Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Kohat. The NEOC also warned about possible flash floods in northern areas like Hazara and Malakand Divisions in KP.

In the Potohar region, which includes Attock, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, there is a high chance of urban flooding, especially at night from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am on June 29.
In Sindh, Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, and Badin are likely to get heavy to very heavy rain from July 2 to 5. The advisory said urban flooding is possible in these cities because of poor drainage systems.
According to a report by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least 20 people have died in KP due to heavy rain and landslides. Another 10 people were injured because of rain and flooding, and more than 50 houses in Swat were partly damaged while six were destroyed.
In Punjab, 15 people have died since Wednesday, including eight children who lost their lives when walls and roofs collapsed during heavy rain.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also warned that the risk of heavy rain and flash floods will remain high until at least Tuesday.
