ISLAMABAD: A crucial meeting of the Ittehad Tanzeemat-ul-Madaris Deenia Pakistan will take place tomorrow to discuss the government's stance on the Madrassa Registration Bill.
The gathering will determine whether to proceed with signing the bill or to launch a movement against it.
The central meeting will be held after Maghrib prayers at Jamia Masjid Usman Ghani in Islamabad. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), will be a special participant in the discussion.
The meeting will focus on the reasons behind the President's refusal to sign the Madrassa Registration Bill and will explore Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s proposed amendments to the bill.
The Ittehad Tanzeemat-ul-Madaris will deliberate on whether to accept the government’s proposals, reject them, or present new amendments. Furthermore, the organization may demand the signing of the bill as originally approved.
The government had previously indicated that a joint parliamentary session could be convened on December 17, if scholars reached a consensus. However, at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s request, the session has been postponed until that date.
The Ittehad Tanzeemat-ul-Madaris will hold their meeting on Monday, while the Wifaq-ul-Madaris will convene on Tuesday. Based on the outcome of the Ittehad Tanzeemat meeting, the Wifaq-ul-Madaris will decide whether to launch a movement or support the government’s proposed.
