An urgent session of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has been called for Sunday in response to the ongoing unrest linked to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest.
According to a notice from the KP Assembly Secretariat, the session is now set for 2 pm on Tuesday.
Originally scheduled for October 7, the session was moved to Sunday following the arrests of several activists in Islamabad.
Previously, PTI retracted its claim regarding the arrest of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, clarifying that he was, in fact, confined at KP House in Islamabad.
KP government spokesperson Barrister Saif stated that KP House was under siege, with Gandapur confined inside. He added that this siege was a sign of their ‘success.’
While Gandapur’s brother initially claimed he had been arrested, government sources denied the arrest.
Reports surfaced that Islamabad’s IG police, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, had detained the KP chief minister, accusing him of attacking the state and abusing official protocol.
Senior PTI leader Omar Ayub also alleged Gandapur’s arrest, despite him having secured protective bail from the Peshawar High Court. Barrister Saif further asserted that the KP House in Islamabad was sealed following the incident.
