ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed four militants, including a top commander, during an intelligence-based operation in Spinwam area of North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security sources said.

According to officials, the operation targeted militant hideouts in the Spinwam region, where security forces engaged terrorists in a firefight, killing four of them on the spot.

Among those killed was militant leader Umar alias Jan Mir, who security sources said had established underground bunkers, tunnels, and explosive traps around the Bobali Mosque area in Spinwam.

Authorities said a bounty of Rs3 million had been placed on Umar’s head due to his involvement in multiple attacks on security forces and civilians, and he was considered a key mastermind behind several militant operations.

Security sources added that the operation was conducted on intelligence-based information and successfully dismantled a key militant network operating in the region.
