Pakistan is experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures expected to drop further in Karachi starting January 4.
Freezing conditions have gripped many cities, with ongoing snowfall in Skardu and Ghizer now covered in white. In Kalam, lakes and waterfalls have frozen due to the extreme cold. Balochistan has also experienced rainfall, with temperatures plunging to minus 9°C in Skardu and minus 8°C in Layyah.
Dense fog across Punjab and Sindh has caused the closure of several motorways, leading to significant travel disruptions.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted dry weather across Punjab, including Lahore, but a rain-bearing system is expected to enter the country soon. Most districts in Punjab may experience rain tomorrow, with further rainfall anticipated on January 5. This will likely intensify the cold wave.
Severe fog is expected to persist in the mornings and evenings across Punjab, complicating travel further. Lahore has recorded minimum temperatures of 6°C, with a maximum of around 15°C expected.
Residents are advised to prepare for colder weather and exercise caution while traveling, especially during foggy conditions.
