Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar stated that it was the government, not PTI, that shut the doors for negotiations.
Speaking to the media outside the High Court, Barrister Gohar said that the government was never serious about negotiations. "Khan Sahib took the initiative, formed a committee, and said that he was giving a chance not for himself but for democracy and the country," he explained. He added that PTI had only two demands: the release of political prisoners and the establishment of a commission.
"Talks continued for a month, but no solution was reached. The government should have shared with us whatever they had written," he remarked.
Barrister Gohar also criticized the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), calling it a "black law" aimed at silencing the media. He asserted, "We do not accept this law under any circumstances."
He further stated that the real obstacles to a political solution were those who never wanted negotiations to succeed. "The doors for dialogue were closed by those who never intended to resolve the issue politically," he concluded.
Barrister Gohar further announced that a historic rally would take place in Swabi on February 8, stating, "This rally will be against those who stole the mandate." He reassured that there would be no change in the province and expressed full confidence in Ali Amin.
Speaking on the Senate elections, Barrister Gohar highlighted the lack of provincial representation, urging immediate action. "The Senate election should be held by granting the reserved seats without delay," he demanded.
He also emphasized PTI’s intention to engage with all opposition parties, saying, "We will reach out to all opposition parties."
