Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will lead Pakistan’s delegation at the three-day meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to begin tomorrow in Tianjin, China.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers meeting will be held in the Chinese city of Tianjin till 16 July.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will lead the Pakistani delegation at the SCO meeting on the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, all member countries of the SCO will attend the meeting.
For the first time, the Foreign Minister of Belarus will also participate in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting.
The Council of Foreign Ministers is the third major decision-making body in the SCO framework. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, international relations, including security issues, will be discussed at the SCO meeting.
At the SCO meeting, key documents, declarations, and statements to be presented at the Council of Heads of State will be approved.
The next meeting of the SCO Heads of State will be held in Tianjin on 31 August and 1 September.
Ishaq Dar also had a phone call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and discussed issues related to global peace.
The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to international peace and security. He also informed the Secretary-General about Pakistan’s actions as President of the Security Council for peace, security, and conflict resolution.
