The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary suspension of gas services in parts of Karachi on December 14 and 15 to facilitate work related to the City BRT project.
According to an official statement, the gas supply will be disrupted from 10:00 PM on December 14 until 6:00 AM on December 15. The interruption is required to relocate a 12-inch-wide high-pressure gas pipeline in the Peoples Chowrangi area.
The gas suspension will impact several key institutions, including Aga Khan University Hospital, Liaquat National Hospital, and Saylani Welfare Trust Kitchen. SSGC also highlighted that domestic consumers in the area are already facing limited gas supply due to ongoing night-time load management measures.
The company stressed that the pipeline relocation is necessary to support ongoing infrastructure development for the BRT project. While acknowledging the inconvenience this may cause, SSGC expressed regret and urged residents and establishments in the affected areas to plan accordingly to minimize potential disruptions.
