Quetta: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a report detailing the damage caused by recent heavy rainfall in Balochistan.
According to the report, since March 24, six people have lost their lives in various incidents triggered by the downpours, including two children.
The PDMA noted that four individuals were injured due to collapsing roofs, and 22 houses were damaged as a result of the heavy rains.
The report highlights that flooding and rain-related damage occurred in the districts of Harnai, Kohlu, Turbat, Jaffarabad, Pishin, and Qila Abdullah.
Additionally, the PDMA stated that standing crops in Pishin and Qila Saifullah were also affected by the heavy rainfall and hail.
Efforts to assess the full extent of the flood damage are ongoing, and relief supplies are being provided to the affected areas.
Several areas in Qila Abdullah, Gulistan, and Jangal Pir Alizai districts of Balochistan have been hit by flash floods, causing widespread disruption. A passenger van and a truck were swept away by the strong currents.
According to the district administration, a truck carrying food supplies was washed away in the Habibzai area of Tehsil Gulistan.
Officials reported that a van carrying 15 passengers was also caught in the floodwaters, and rescue operations have been launched immediately.
The administration added that the Qila Abdullah river is experiencing high-level flash flooding, affecting traffic on the Quetta-Chaman highway.
Additionally, several passenger vehicles are stranded in the seasonal rivers of Pishin and Toba Achakzai due to rising floodwaters.
