ECP announces countrywide public holiday on general election day

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced a public holiday across the country in connection with the general elections to be held on February 8. However, the election has also issued a regular notification of a public holiday for the general polls.

According to the announcement of the Election Commission, the purpose of the public holiday is to enable voters to exercise their right to vote freely and conveniently.

It should be noted that general elections are going to be held on February 8, in which more than 128 million registered voters will be able to exercise their right to vote.

Earlier, CEC Sikander Sultan Raja has said that there is no possibility of postponing elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Sikandar Sultan Raja, speaking informally to journalists after the Election Commission meeting, said that it had been decided in the meeting that the elections would be held on February 8.

He said that the Election Commission has provided a level playing field to all political parties, using the Election Management System (EMS) instead of RTS for transparent elections.
