KARACHI: A court in Karachi on Saturday granted physical remand of drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky until May 22 in a narcotics case.
A judicial magistrate in Central district approved the remand after hearing arguments in the case registered against the accused.
In a separate proceeding, a judicial magistrate in Karachi South extended Pinky’s physical remand by two more days in a murder case and ordered her to be produced again on Monday. The court also granted judicial remand in 13 other cases registered in South district.
Meanwhile, a Malir court sent the accused to jail on judicial remand in a case registered at Sachal police station and directed the investigating officer to submit a challan within 14 days. The prosecution said it would challenge the court’s decision.
During court appearances, the suspect was brought with her face covered. She alleged police torture and claimed that false cases were registered against her, adding that she was brought from Lahore to Karachi on the orders of her ex-husband.
Investigating officers told the court that the accused was “highly skilled” and repeatedly changing statements. They said data recovered from her phone contained over 800 contacts and revealed transactions worth millions of rupees.
Police further alleged that her identity card had been blocked and that she had been using SIMs obtained on other people’s names, adding that further arrests of her alleged facilitators and riders were required and seeking further remand.
Earlier, Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan said Friday that the brand identity of drug trafficker Anmol alias Pinky will ultimately become her downfall.
He added that African nationals are also involved in the drug trafficking network under investigation.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Azad Khan said the case involving the arrested suspect is being treated as a “test case” and will be taken to its logical conclusion.
