KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has called for joint efforts from all stakeholders to solve Karachi’s long-standing water problems.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Gutter Baghicha, Bilawal said the Sindh Government has taken major steps to improve the city’s water supply. These include launching a new Hub Canal and installing water treatment plants. He explained that once these plants become operational, they will provide clean water to both citizens and industries.
Bilawal added that he has repeatedly drawn the attention of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif towards Karachi’s issues and hopes the PM will fulfill his “Shehbaz Speed” promise.
He also noted that people in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan are still suffering from the effects of past floods. Bilawal said natural disasters should not be politicized, but unfortunately, political rivals do so even in such times.
He further praised Asif Ali Zardari for playing a key role in strengthening Pakistan-China ties, adding that his recent visit to China will further boost relations.
On this occasion, Murtaza Wahab, the Mayor of Karachi, said several clean water projects are being set up to ensure water supply for both citizens and industries.
