KARACHI: The Pakistan Army stepped in on Wednesday to help residents after torrential rains flooded several areas of Karachi, leaving many citizens stranded.
Army rescue teams worked throughout the day in different parts of the city, moving families, children, and elderly people to safe locations. Officials said heavy rainfall submerged many neighborhoods, creating serious challenges for residents.
Military vehicles and rescue personnel immediately began operations, safely evacuating dozens of people trapped in rising water. Soldiers also pulled out vehicles stuck in flooded streets and helped the city administration restore traffic in key areas.
In some neighborhoods, troops reached on foot to rescue people who could not escape floodwater. An army spokesperson said the rescue operations will continue until the situation returns to normal, assuring citizens that all possible assistance will be provided.
Residents praised the army for its timely response, saying the presence of soldiers gave them hope and courage in a difficult situation.
