Saudi Arabia uses drones to curb unauthorized Hajj pilgrimage

RIYADH: In a bid to prevent unauthorized Hajj pilgrimages, Saudi authorities have begun using drones for surveillance within the holy boundaries of Makkah Makrama.

These drones are actively monitoring restricted areas, enabling the authorities to track and detain hundreds of individuals daily attempting to perform Hajj without proper permits.

The advanced surveillance system is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to ensure strict compliance with Hajj regulations and maintain the safety and order of the pilgrimage.

Saudi Arabia is being monitored in the limits of Makkah with the help of a drone to prevent illegal Hajj, while hundreds of people have been arrested on a daily basis with the help of drones.

Meanwhile, four Indonesian people have been detained in Makkah Makrama for a fake Hajj permit campaign.

Fourteen more people were arrested from the house of the arrested persons, none of them had a Hajj permit.

Earlier, 55,642 Pakistani Hajj pilgrims had landed in Saudi Arabia so far via 244 flights.

Religious Affairs’ Ministry spokesperson Muhammad Umar Butt said 4,558 more pilgrims are scheduled to arrive today through 19 flights.

He said the Hajj flight operation will continue till 31st of this month.

The spokesperson said that preparations are going well to accommodate pilgrims in Mina and Arafat.
