LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level meeting on flood relief efforts, where she was briefed on the establishment of district and tehsil-level committees, a mobile application, survey forms, and a monitoring dashboard to support flood-affected communities.
The meeting decided to launch a province-wide operation for the rehabilitation of flood victims.
The Chief Minister also directed authorities to devise the simplest possible mechanism for the disbursement of relief assistance.
During the briefing, the Revenue Department reported that floods have affected 3,775 villages across 27 districts and 64 tehsils in Punjab.
A total of 63,200 permanent (pucca) houses and 309,684 temporary (kacha) houses were damaged in the disaster.
According to the report, the team will include representatives of Urban Unit, Revenue, Agriculture and Army for the flood victim’s survey.
Maryam Nawaz ordered the immediate restoration of roads, bridges and infrastructure in the flood affected areas, saying that the government is united for the full support of the flood victims, the government should reach the flood victims itself.
The Chief Minister further said that more camps and points should be set up for the delivery of aid to the flood victims, they will resolve the loss of each individual so that no one is deprived of relief.
