LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has accepted the resignation of its Chief Curator, Tony Heming. Heming, who was appointed to the position in July 2024, has decided to step down from his role due to personal reasons, despite having a two-year contract with the board.
Heming's departure comes just months after he joined the PCB, following the conclusion of his contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
He was tasked with the crucial responsibility of preparing pitches for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship matches and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Sources suggest that Heming is now in discussions with the Bangladesh Cricket Board about a potential return.
A highly respected curator with nearly four decades of experience, Heming has a distinguished career spanning several countries.
His work includes stints at prestigious grounds in Australia, such as Melbourne, Perth, and Tasmania. He has also worked in Bangladesh, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, where he served as the ICC's Head Curator from 2007 to 2017.
During his time with the ICC, he oversaw pitch preparation at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, a venue that hosted many of Pakistan's home matches between 2009 and 2019.
While Heming's reasons for leaving are cited as personal, his resignation marks a swift end to his tenure with the PCB. The cricket board will now need to move quickly to find a new curator to ensure the readiness of pitches for its upcoming international commitments, particularly the high-profile Champions Trophy next year.
