Lahore: In a strong reaction to the conduct during the match against India, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has threatened to pull out of the remaining Asia Cup matches if match referee Andy Pycroft is not replaced.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has formally demanded the removal of the match referee, stating that Pakistan will not play any further games in the tournament if their concerns are not addressed.
According to PCB sources, a detailed letter has been sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC), outlining serious objections regarding the referee’s conduct, which the board claims was against the spirit of the game. The PCB has also communicated its stance to the tournament director of the Asia Cup.
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed his disappointment over the situation and revealed that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) may impose a fine on the Indian team as a result of the incident.
“The match referee violated the ICC Code of Conduct, and we have filed an official complaint,” said Naqvi. “We have demanded that Andy Pycroft be immediately removed from the Asia Cup.”
Pakistan's next match in the Asia Cup is scheduled for September 17 in Dubai against the UAE, but their participation now hangs in the balance.
