DUBAI: The Pakistan cricket team has dedicated its entire match fee from the Asia Cup final against India to the memory of civilians martyred in the May 7 attack carried out by India earlier this year.
The high-voltage final, played in Dubai on Sunday, saw India defeat Pakistan by five wickets in the final over of a thrilling contest.
Despite winning the tournament, the Indian team refused to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi in an apparent show of defiance. However, Naqvi stood firm, and the Indian side left the ground disappointed — without the trophy.
During the tournament, India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav was fined for making political remarks in a press conference. However, following the final match, he once again made headlines by announcing that India’s players would donate their match fees to the Indian Army.

It is to be remembered that India launched a missile attack on Pakistan on May 7 this year, in which several Pakistani were martyred and injured.
