LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the federal government to submit the mechanism for fixing petroleum, oil and lubricant prices.
Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the petition against the increase in the prices of petroleum products, in which the Assistant Attorney General and the petitioner's lawyer appeared in the court.
The petitioner's lawyer said that the increase in the price of petrol has further increased inflation and the government increases the prices of petroleum products without any reason.
During the hearing, the Assistant Attorney General said that the petrol has been increased according to the international market, on this the lawyer for the petitioner said that Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the government's position is beyond understanding, the public is not even given solid reasons regarding the increase in petrol.
The court said that the federal government should bring on record how the price of petrol is fixed and the procedure for increasing the prices of petroleum products should be clarified.

Later, the court directed the federal government and asked for a response.
